The illustrator and author Hans Traxler (born in 1929 in Herrlich/Czechoslovakia) is a pivotal member of the »Neue Frankfurter Schule« alongside Robert Gernhardt, F.W. Bernstein, F.K. Waechter, and Chlodwig Poth. He became renowned for his work at the magazines Pardon and Titanic for his numerous books and through his illustrations of Goethe, Schiller, Mozart, Twain, Shakespeare, Tucholsky and many others. He was awarded the German Caricatures award, the Göttingen ELCH, the Grimm award and the Goethe badge by the city of Frankfurt for his life's work.
