Bettina von Arnim und ihr künstlerisches Werk
Description
Poet's wife, poet's sister, poet of letters and letter books, author of political writings - this is how Bettina von Arnim is known. It is time to get to know another Mrs von Arnim: the dilettante artist. She drew without training, learnt a technique of tracing and created highly acclaimed works, which Dajana Böhm presents here in full for the first time. These include von Arnim's government recommendations for kings as well as sheets with entirely new motifs and mythological content, in which she sometimes depicted herself as a bacchante. Böhm shows that von Arnim produced so much more than the design for a Goethe monument previously mentioned in the literature, which is carefully reconstructed and interpreted here for the first time. When Bettina von Arnim is mentioned again in the future, her multifaceted artistic work can now also be discussed.
