Lichtenberg lacht. Aufklärung und Satire
Description
Georg Christoph Lichtenberg (1742-1799) became world-famous as a philosopher, writer and professor of experimental physics. Above all, however, he was one of the most important representatives of the Göttingen Enlightenment, endowed with an extraordinary sense of wit and satire, often with gallows humor and a generous dash of melancholy.
This volume with essays on the beginning, history and impact of the Enlightenment, on the importance of satire for the British Enlightenment, on the laughing Lichtenberg enjoying art, women and theater in London, on the importance of satirical traditions and on the joy of feather-light, humorous philosophy is supplemented with works by 18 artists from the 2014 "Summer Academy for Comic Art" of the Kassel CARICATURA. The pictures were created especially for this book - they invite you on a satirical journey through the centuries in the company of a special person and his aphorisms.
